This masterclass takes viewers through a comprehensive rehabilitation of a pectoral strain from the acute stage through to return to performance.

Ben focuses heavily on objective data collection using hand held dynamometry and force plate assessment techniques. This information is then applied practically within the context of mid to late stage rehabilitation and rate of force development for athletic performance.

Ben Ashworth is a shoulder specialist with over two decades of elite sports experience. Ben has worked as a physiotherapist within organisations such as:

  • Director of Performance for AC Sparta
  • Currently, Ben is the Director of the Athletic Shoulder which consults with teams and individuals from around the world including MLB, EPL, MMA, WTA and Olympic and collegiate sport athletes.

Ben's education history includes the completion of a Master of Physiotherapy and a Master in Strength & Conditioning. Additionally, Ben is also currently undertaking his PhD in shoulder performance monitoring at Liverpool Hope University. He is credited with the development of the ASH Test - a valid and reliable test that is widely used to assess an athlete's long-lever shoulder strength and rate of force development

Performance consultant for elite teams and individuals. Shoulder specialist with a Master of Science (MSc) in Strength & Conditioning & UKSCA accreditation. “Physio-coach” with experience in elite rugby, Olympic Sports, baseball & Professional football. Consultancy & education for MLB teams based on original research in Athletic Shoulder strength monitoring developed in Premiership Rugby currently applied in MLB & NFL teams, Premier League football, Olympic swimming, British tennis and other upper limb sports worldwide.

Ben currently works as a consultant with professional teams (EPL, USA baseball) and individuals to help solve shoulder performance issues. He has over two decades of experience as a practitioner with a Masters in both Physiotherapy and Strength & Conditioning.

Ben’s interest & experience in shoulders developed from his time in professional rugby at London Wasps (2002-2005) and was accelerated through his work with the English Institute of Sport. Ben also spent years as the first team physio for Arsenal in the EPL.

The Athletic Shoulder testing & monitoring philosophy combines Ben’s shoulder expertise with over ten years of monitoring athletes in performance environments. Creatively challenging the way we use information to impact on minimising injury risk and maximising athletic performance potential.

Ben is currently working towards completion of a PhD in the area of Shoulder performance monitoring at Liverpool Hope University, a centre of excellence for upper limb and shoulder research. This work is focussing on fatigue, return to play markers and neuromuscular profiling for performance. This is an extension of Ben’s recent published work around the now well -established use of force platforms for shoulder testing developed at Saracens rugby and currently applied in baseball, tennis, rugby, MMA, Olympic & collegiate sports.

What is The Sports MAP Network?

What do I get for my paid yearly subscription?
With your paid subscription you gain access to our Masterclass library. While your subscription is active you can watch and re-watch all of our Masterclass content as much as you want, at your own pace. You will also receive some discounts on our Live events and workshops throughout the year.
Is the virtual access live or can I watch on demand after the event?
Virtual Access is NOT live footage. You will be granted access to the full course content professionally filmed and edited from four weeks after the conclusion of the live event.
How long can I view the Virtual Access for?
You will have access to the content for 3 months from your purchase date. If you attend the live event or purchase Virtual Access before the live event, you will have 3 months access from when the content is made available.
Can I get a refund if I can no longer attend the course?
You are entitled to a refund for live event tickets up to 30 days out from the event. We do not offer refunds on the virtual access however you are welcome to upgrade your purchase to attend the live event.
Do I get a certificate?
Every participant who attends our Events either live or Virtual Access will receive an official certificate upon completion.
Do I get any slides/ handouts?
Most courses will provide you a booklet on arrival. Our conferences will not include handouts. Virtual access participants will be able access and download a digital version of this booklet.
How long do I get access to Masterclass videos for?
Masterclass videos can be viewed at your own pace, at any time as long as you have an active subscription.
How can I watch the Masterclasses?
Once you have a paid active subscription, all masterclasses can be accessed via the Masterclasses page or in via "My Account". Masterclasses can be viewed at any time on your PC, Mobile Phone or Tablet.
Can I download the videos?
The Masterclass content is not able to be downloaded. You can however access the videos at any time, across all devices.
How long is each Masterclass?
Each Masterclass ranges from 60 - 120 minutes of in-depth content from our expert presenters.
How many Masterclasses do I gain access to?
With a Premium Membership you gain access to the ENTIRE Masterclass library immediately. With new content being uploaded on a regular, ongoing basis there is hours of comprehensive content.
I cannot log in to my account. What do I do?
If you have forgotten your password, when logging in, click “Forgot password” this will send an email to your registered email address with a link to reset your password (*check your spam folder). If you are still having problems please email us at [email protected] and we will help you as quickly as possible to regain access.
How can I change my password?
You can update your password via your “My Account”. Within this section select “Change My Details” and update as required.
How can I cancel my subscription?
In order to cancel you subscription navigate to "My Account" then "my purchases" and select the membership, here you will find an option to cancel.
How am I billed?
The Sports Map membership can be billed monthly or annually. We currently accept direct debit, PayPal and credit cards.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes! You can cancel your subscription at any time. If you are paying monthly or yearly, you will lose access to the Masterclass content at the end of your relevant payment cycle.
Will I be charged taxes?
You may incur taxes in addition to your membership price. This varies from country to country and will be added separately to your emailed invoice. Tax rates are automatically calculated based on the location of the billing information you provide us.
Can I suspend my subscription?
Unfortunately suspending your subscription isn’t an available option, however you can cancel your subscription anytime if you decide that Sports MAP isn’t for you.
Where can I find my recent purchases?
You can access all your paid orders via your “My Account”. Within this section select “My Purchases”.
How can I update my payment details?
You can access all your payment details via your “My Account”. Within this section select “Payment Methods”.
Do subscriptions auto renew?
Yes, subscriptions will auto-renew at the end of every month or year, depending on the option you chose. You can cancel your subscription to cease the automatic payment at the end of the relevant cycle.

Which countries is your continuing education approved?
Our content can be used for CPD/CEU points and hours in Australia, NZ, UK, USA (43 states - see below for details) as well as many more countries. If you are unsure if we qualify for PD in your country please contact us at [email protected] and we can confirm this for you.
Can I register CPD hours from Sports MAP in Australia?
In Australia, the time taken to complete a SportsMAP Masterclass or course can be recorded as CPD. To maintain and renew registration as a physiotherapist you are required to complete 20 hours of CPD per year (5 hours for every 3 months of registration if registering part way through a year) Masterclasses You can record your Masterclasses in your CPD portfolio document under ‘formal learning activities'. One hour of CPD can be recorded per one hour of masterclass viewing. To help track your CPD across the year, a certificate of completion, including the date of completion and number of attributed CPD hours can be found under the ‘My Certificates’ tab in your SportsMAP account. Courses SportsMAP in person or online courses can also be recorded as ‘formal learning activities’ in your CPD portfolio. One hour of CPD can be recorded for every hour you attended the course. Following the course a certificate of completion including the date of completion and number of attributed CPD hours will be emailed to you. Please ensure you keep this for your records.
Can I register CPD hours from Sports MAP in New Zealand?
In New Zealand, the time taken to watch a Masterclass or attend a course can be recorded as CPD. To maintain and renew registration as a physiotherapist you are required to complete 100 hours of CPD across a 3 year period. Masterclasses You can record your Masterclasses in your CPD portfolio document under ‘formal learning activities'. One hour of CPD can be recorded per one hour of masterclass viewing.
Can I register CPD hours from Sports MAP in the UK?
In the UK the time taken to watch a Masterclass or attend a course can be recorded as CPD. There is no minimum number of CPD hours required for physiotherapist in the UK, however there is a requirement to demonstrate continuous and varied learning. Masterclasses SportsMAP Network Masterclasses can be recorded as online learning under the ‘Formal and Educational’ CPD categories. One hour of CPD can be recorded per one hour of masterclass viewing.
Can I Register CPD from SportsMAP In Ireland?
In Ireland the time taken to watch a Masterclass or attend a course can be recorded as CPD. To meet Coru accreditation it is expected that at minimum you can demonstrate achieving 30 CPD credits in every 12-month period with approximately 1 CPD credit for every hour of new or enhanced learning achieved. Masterclasses SportsMAP Network Masterclasses can be recorded as online learning. One hour of CPD can be recorded per one hour of masterclass viewing. A certificate of completion, including the date of completion and number of attributed CPD hours can be found under the ‘My Certificates’ tab in your account. Please keep these for your records as evidence of completion. Courses SportsMAP Network courses can be recorded under the courses CPD category. 1 hour of CPD can be attributed per 1 hour of coursework. Following the course a certificate of completion including the date of completion and number of attributed CPD hours will be emailed to you. Please ensure you keep this for your records.
Can I obtain CEU’s for online education in the USA?
Yes. Each Masterclass is accredited to contribute 1-2 hours to your totally yearly CEU requirements depending on its length. CEU certificates are stored in your account for easy submission to your accreditation board each year. Our organization has been approved as a provider of continuing education for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants in California (CA) by Redefine Health Education, a recognized approval agency of the Physical Therapy Board of CA. In addition to California, the blue states on this map are likely to accept courses approved by other state boards. As regulations may change over time, please confirm current accuracy with your state board, eg. that they will accept courses approved by other state boards. Can I register CEU’s from Sports MAP for Athletic Trainers?
SportsMAP Network Masterclasses count towards CEUs for Athletic Trainers through the BOC, under category D HERE . One CEU can be recorded per one hour of masterclass viewing. A certificate of completion, including the date of completion and number of attributed CPD hours can be found under the ‘My Certificates’ tab in your account. Please keep these for your records as evidence of completion.
