Dr Troy Flanagan is a sport scientist and the Vice President of Performance for the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA. This includes the oversight of the physical preparation, sports medicine, sports technology and software development, sports physiology, performance analytics, dietetics, sports psychology, anticipation training and player wellness. Troy directed the team’s preparation in 2021 when the team won the NBA championship.
Troy has over 20 years experience in working with Olympic and professional athletes in Australia and the United States. He is a sports physiologist (B. App. Sci. Hons.) and has a strong background in sports technology development (Ph.D. Aerospace Engineering).
Troy is now the Vice President of Performance with the Bucks after 8 years with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association as the Director of Sport Science and the Director of High Performance. This role included the oversight of the sport science and high performance services for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Teams for the Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The U.S. Ski and Snowboard teams are now internationally recognized for their innovative sport science and performance technology programs. Troy has also worked for 14 years as a sport scientist in the innovative sports institute program in Australia (primarily at the Victorian Institute of Sport), which is responsible for preparing the Australian Olympic team.
